My boss’ son likes to come into the office when we are closed and use the computer (he surfs the internet and downloads songs), he does not work here. One weekend, I cleared the history and temp files, etc (normal behavior for me)…he was all pissed off because I did that. He doesn’t use bookmarks. He just goes to the search bar. My boss thought clearing out all that internet junk was “asinine”, and that her son thought I had something to “hide”. She asked me if I had a pc at home. What difference does that make? I should have asked if he had one at home!
I’ve also found his beer in the company refrigerator. Obviously his mom lets him do whatever he wants, without consequnce. What would you do?
Oh yeah, her son is over 21. And she does not own the company.
I guess it depends on your relationship with the boss. She will always believe her son before you unless you are really close. I too, clear my files on a regular basis. It is recommended to keep your computer at maximum effieciency. You might tell her that. However, it appears that her son does pretty much what he wants to and there is not much you can do about it. You might want to look for work somewhere else.
