Refrigerator Evaporator Fan Motor Replacement (part #WR60X10074)
Refrigerator Evaporator Fan Motor Questions
How to replace a refrigerator motor?
Hello all.Recently the evaporator fan motor in my refrigerator stopped working and I need to install a new one.I have a Kenmore model 253.67179508,and if my research is correct and I hope it is,the part # is 5304445861.My family and I are on a very tight budget and I was hoping to do this myself.I was hoping to get any help and/or tips that anyone could give me.Thank you very much in advance to anyone who could help.
Unplug fridge. then take out freezer floor(removing screws) and lift from back vents. Viola, fan motor.
However, that part rarely fails. Mine is over 30 years old. I am into my second purchased timer though. If fridge is 15 years old area, then the timer is what I would look at because it runs both the compressor and the fan. And to get to that one has to unscrew and lower the cooling coils carefully, then take off the back plate(mine was black and runs across the midsection of the fridge at the back) and stuff in insulation near the inside controls you will see a white or black plastic gizmo with wires connected to it) remove it and remember the order of the 4 wires. Chances are this is the toy that is worn out. 25-35 dollars and you need to take that part with you to the appliance store to have them match it up with a new one.
Install the new timer with the wires back in exactly the same order as the former part and you could plug it in first and hear everything going. Mind you it runs on a 6 hour cycle. Every 6-8 hours it turns the pump and fan on.
Thing is, once you buy anything electrical, it is yours. Even if it is not the problem. You tried out the part. They don’t know whether you burnt the sucker out. So unless that fan motor is in a sealed plastic bag – you can’t take it back for a refund.
Pontiac Blower Motor: Keeping you Well-ventilated in Any Weather Condition
With the advent of car technology, you can now enjoy the same comfort levels at your home or office in your Pontiac vehicle. The seamless transition from heating to cooling is possible with just a click of a button. This group of car components helps in removing heat through the method of conduction, radiation, and convection. Through the use of a cool medium known as the refrigerant, your entire air conditioning system is able to absorb the heat inside your car. Your cooling system also does the task of cleaning and removing the excess moisture of the outside air that enters your car. Moreover, it also allows you to select your preferred temperature, so you can get comfortable in any weather condition. The process of cooling your Pontiac depends on a number of car components that play a specific role. As a system, they turn the hot compressed gas into cool air by removing the heat moisture. However, you need to ensure that all your air conditioning components are all in good working condition in order to have an efficient AC system.
Among the various parts of your car’s air conditioning system is the Pontiac blower motor. This car component serves a primary function of turning the electric fan in your air conditioning system. It is a variable-speed motor that is electrically controlled. Your Pontiac blower motor can be mounted to a housing that surrounds the evaporator, control doors, and heater core and can be seen attached to a “squirrel-cage” type of fan. The blower motor works by moving outside air through the cabin air filter, then it passes through the heater core and evaporator. However, the exact direction of the air that comes from the blower motor are controlled by the air control doors. Depending upon the weather condition, the resulting airflow would either cool or warm the interior of your car; or de-ice or de-fog your car’s windshields.
The speed of the Pontiac blower motor is regulated through the use of a blower motor resistor. If you want it to spin faster to move more air, you have to select a higher fan speed so that the blower motor resistor could provide less resistance to the blower motor. A typical Pontiac blower motor can last for 100,000-125,000 miles of driving. This is normal, because this air conditioning system is constantly exposed to stress. You can easily tell that your blower motor is worn out if you have been noticing an erratic-running blower motor, poor air flow, blower motor streaks, vibration and noise, and a blower motor that runs all the time. This can be the result of bad bearings, failed blower motor resistor as well as a poor insulation in the fan blower cage. Among the things that can cause premature wear in your Pontiac blower motor is when you have failed to change your cabin air filter. A worn out blower motor would prevent you from getting any air. If you do not like to sweat all over while driving, then better replace your worn out Pontiac blower motor with a new one to have a well ventilated interior in any weather condition.
