Is my mini-fridge broken?
I have a 4.1 cubic foot emerson mini-fridge with a separate freezer compartment. Every so-often, I’ll notice A LOT condensation inside the fridge part of if, and sometimes I’ll hear dripping or leaking sounds. When I moved my mini-fridge early today, a lot of water leaked out (okay, probably less than a cup). Is something wrong with my mini-fridge? Or is it just normal fridge stuff?
if it is frost free type ( which most are )
then it goes through a “defrost cycle ” every so often
on a timer
when this happens ,,it has a heating element that melts the ice
that could be the dripping and the condensate.
Then the water (melt)runs down below into a reservoir where it is supposed to evaporate from the heat of the motor or fan blowing on it.
As long as you don’t have water flowing out onto the floor
then i would say it is ok

Have you ever seen a fridge that is not frost free ?
they build up ice all inside the freezer
then you have to melt the ice manually.
It is a good idea to clean the dust from any coils ,fan and everything under and behind the fridge
as this interfers with the normal fridge stuff and uses more energy
look under the fridge and see if you can locate the resevior that holds the water.could be on top of the motor.
