Repair Refrigerator

Refrigerator Repair Home Solutions

Refrigerators are one of the few home appliances that are designed to run continuously.  When this machine stops working, you may be facing a high repair bill. Refrigerator repair Orange County CA is the best way to fix your fridge, but there are also several repairs you can make at home.

Basic Components

Freezers and refrigerators consist of two main components: an evaporator coil and a condenser coil. Other basic components include fans, condensers, heaters, thermostats, and automatic fridges. In most cases, it is one of these items that are broken. Many basic pieces can be fixed at home, while others should be left for a professional repairman.

Repair Options

The controlling components for a refrigerator are usually found on the upper or top part of the unit. The condenser fan, condenser coil, compressor, and motor are placed in the bottom. To get access to the upper part, remove the holding screws and clips that hold the casing panels. To get to the lower section, you may need to tip the refrigerator over or remove the entire front panel. The evaporator coils and condenser are always sealed, so a professional serviceperson will be required to repair them. However, other parts can be easily pried loose or unscrewed from their mounting brackets.

Common Problems

If you see burn marks on the prongs of the power plug, then your cord may need to get changed. The majority of fridge problems stem from simply closing/opening the door, since too much can lead to excess frost and improper temperatures. To solve this problem, install new sealing around the door frame. This can be done at home or by hiring a refrigerator repair Orange County CA company.

Internal Components

The internal mechanisms of a refrigerator can be very complicated. Some are easy to repair at home, while others are very dangerous and should only be repaired by professionals. The limit switch is quite easy to fix if you have basic electrical experience. This device is meant to keep the heating mechanism from exceeding a set temperature. If your fridge is losing large amounts of frost, the limit switch may be the problem. This piece is fairly cheap and is easy to replace and install.

Defrost Timer

A compressor that does not run may have a problem with the defrost timer. Use a VOM reader to test the electrical current of the timer. If it is broken, replace it with a new timer and test it before plugging your fridge back in.

Conclusion

Always unplug your fridge before opening it. Each model has its own layout and unique components, so find the patents for your machine. You should also be careful of capacitors since they store electricity and can shock you even when the unit is switched off. If you do not have a lot of experience with electrical repair, it may be better to hire a professional refrigerator repair Orange County CA service.

is it cheaper to repair or replace my refrigerator?

my refrigerator is pretty old (i bought it used about 6 years ago) and the seal around the door – i think you call it a gasket – that seals the cold inside is in need of repair. sometimes humidity leaks out of the refrigerator. there is nothing else wrong with it. my question: is it cheaper to have that seal replaced, or just buy another fridge? i know you can get the small ones at home depot for like $350. i am single and don’t have a handyman around to fix it so i have no idea how much it would cost to have that seal replaced. thank you so much for your honest and polite input.
oh and i did try to figure out how to replace the seal but all i did was make a mess! LOL

Appliance Tips: How to Clean Your Refrigerator

How to Clean Your Refrigerator Questions

How to Clean Your Refrigerator
what do you look for in house cleaning services?

My family and I are in financial mess, and someone had suggested that my husband and I look into cleaning houses. I used to tag along with a family friend who was a professional house keeper, (when I was much younger) but it’s hard remembering what it was people were looking for. I’ve thought about creating packages (basic, premium, deep, etc) with a list of addons (clean refrigerator, sweep porches, clean windows, etc) as well as offering a custom package at an hourly rate. I’m not sure about what rates are nowadays, but I hear the average is around $20/hr. Since my husband and I haven’t done anything like this, we don’t have references… how much should our hourly rate be considering? What are things your house keeper does that you appreciate? Thanks in advance!

1.Be Bonded
2.Clean under things(people hide things(money) to make sure you clean there)

5.Don’t leave foot prints on carpet after vacuuming, vacuum in one direction(lines)
6.Wipe walls by light switches and obvious marks
7.Never reorganize any papers,mail,etc…
8.Don’t use phone(except in emergency) or i-pods(etc…) looks unprofessional

Sweep and mop the floor.
Do anything else needed(rehang the towels etc…to make it look nice)

Dry work
Living room/Dinning room,bed rooms
Dust(move stuff),,wipe walls where needed, organize the best you can any mess(clothes/toys),make beds, clean any mirrors, dust nic nacs, light fixtures, clean under furniture(people hide money and little things to make sure you cleaned there, put in a pile close to where you found it).Vacuum in one direction(lines) as you leave the room(leave no foot prints).

Always use separate rags for wet/dry work.Cloth baby diapers are the best thing to use, they leave no lint, easy to keep clean and last a long time.

Do your best not to talk to people while working, try to just get in and out.A lot of time people will be home while you work, always be pleasant but concentrate on getting your work done thoroughly in as short time as you can.

You can do one cleaning(wet or dry) while your husband does the other.Work will get done faster this way)
